Coming back from Sevilla excited with everything that Easter means there is something spectacular. But, if in the middle of the way back you decide to stop and get to know Merida, the thing gets even better.
I knew there were historical sites there but I had no idea that Mérida was the wonder it is.
As always, I did not have much time, so my visit was restricted to the Roman Theater and Amphitheater.
The Theater, which was built between the years 15 and 16 BC. Originally had space for six thousand people. Some years later the Amphitheater was built. Something spectacularly large and majestic. Scene for popular shows of the time such as gladiatorial games and fights between wild animals. There were more than fifteen thousand spectators.
Walking through this site takes us very far in history. It leads us to think how it has been possible to construct something so great and so perfect with the knowledge and the engineering of the time?
What I can conclude is that the engineering of the time was fantastic and impressive. Something I can not imagine since I live in the age of technology and computer science
This is what makes me think that Merida is something special …. For real!!
I leave a small video with the photos of these two sites as well as a link to the page where you can see prices and visiting times
